HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
How many sessions you need would
depend mostly on you e.g.
your motivation, availability,
and what brings you to counselling,
Every client is different and I do not
set a limit on how many or how few you
will need. We will work this out
together. I can offer long-term or
short-term solutions.
Most people come for a weekly session.
Where possible, this would be on the
same day and at the same time to keep
the rhythm of the counselling going.
However, people's commitments vary and
change and I try to accommodate this.
Some people find that after eight
sessions, they begin to understand what
is going on for them and can feel the
benefits. As the counselling
relationship develops and the trust
increases, others may take many more
sessions to deal with deeper, core
issues and to change old behaviour
patterns.
HOW WILL I KNOW IF COUNSELLING WITH
YOU IS FOR ME?
For counselling to be effective, it is
important for you to feel safe to talk
about anything and to feel that you can
trust the counsellor. The first free 30
minute session provides you with an
opportunity to talk a little about the
reasons you want counselling and to ask
me any questions you have. By then
you will
also have an idea as to whether you feel
comfortable talking to me or not. There
is no obligation to book further
sessions after this initial one.
If you are unsure as to whether
counselling is for you, please feel free
to call me and we can discuss it further
together.
IS IT CONFIDENTIAL?
Everything that is discussed is
confidential.
This means I will keep everything that
is said and takes place in the
counselling room confidential.
EXCEPTIONAL CIRCUMSTANCES:
The only time confidentiality would
be breached is:
* If there is a disclosure of an ongoing
abuse/neglect of a child or vulnerable
adult;
*
If I consider there is a danger to
yourself or others.
DO YOU TALK TO ANYONE ELSE ABOUT ME?
All professional counsellors are
required to have regular supervision to
ensure the best practice and safety for
their clients. I speak regularly with
another experienced counsellor in the UK
who is specialised in supervision for
this purpose. My clients' personal
details are not revealed during these
meetings and I present my work as cases
not as identifiable individuals
The journey of a thousand miles
begins with the first step.
